WVU Women and Children's Hospital
McKamish was the HVAC and plumbing contractor at the West Virginia University Medicine Women and Children's Hospital.
The 10-story, 155 bed hospital, is located at the WVU Medicine Campus in the heart of Morgantown, WV. The hospital is completely self-sufficient and includes both inpatient and outpatient services, along with a full medical office building, that is focused on family friendly and patient focused care.
McKamish participated in preconstruction and pricing exercises that enhanced the overall project, such as an early schedule analysis, early BIM design to facilitate early fabrication of MEP racks, early purchase of all major equipment, development of a detailed delivery schedule and heavy analysis of the overall constructability to ensure the flow of the MEP installation. The early start on BIM and prefabrication were critical in adhering to the aggressive schedule requirements. Due to the tight site location, lifting of prefabricated systems cut down on the amount of deliveries to the site and saved time on installation.
