McKamish was selected as the prime commercia HVAC contractor for the Allegheny General Hospital AHU S-13 Replacement Project. This air handling unit is the sole source of air for the 4th floor Cath Lab, located on the west side of Snyder Pavilion. The project is crucial, serving as the enabling phase for the future renovation of the entire fourth floor. Without the new upsized unit, airflow requirements for the floor would not have been met.
The overall project was complex and challenging due to the congested mezzanine level where the air handling unit needed to be installed, the tight spaces required to route the air stream from multiple risers to the fourth floor, and the necessity of completing the installation with just one shutdown.
